Ceramic fuses. Missing safety switches. Labels from the 80s. If that sounds like your switchboard, it's time for an upgrade — and we do it properly.
Your switchboard is the heart of your home's electrical system — and in many older Noosa Hinterland homes it's quietly working away with 1970s-era fuses, no safety switches, no surge protection, and zero capacity to take on a modern electrical load. Ultralec carries out compliant switchboard upgrades across Pomona, Cooroy, Cooran, Noosa Heads, Tewantin, Eumundi and Gympie — the kind of job that should be done once, properly, by a licensed electrician.
A proper upgrade involves replacing the old fuse board or switchboard with a modern compliant board including: main switch with appropriate rating, RCD/RCBO protection on every final subcircuit, dedicated circuit breakers per circuit, whole-home surge protection, clear circuit labelling, and optional provision for future solar or EV charging. All work is completed to AS/NZS 3000 and current Queensland standards.
Queensland legislation requires RCD safety switches on all final subcircuits in homes. If your board is missing these — or only has one or two older 30mA units — a proper upgrade addresses this entirely. RCDs are the single most important electrical safety device in your home.
We do switchboard upgrades in Pomona, Cooroy, Cooran, Noosa, Tewantin, Eumundi, Yandina, Gympie and across the Sunshine Coast. Typical residential upgrade takes a day, with advance power-off scheduling to minimise disruption. We provide the compliance paperwork at completion.
