In winter, run on reverse at low speed, they push warm air down from the ceiling. Ultralec supplies and installs ceiling fans across Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, Sunshine Beach, Cooroy, Pomona, Eumundi, Gympie and the wider Sunshine Coast.

AC vs DC Ceiling Fans — Which Should You Choose?

DC fans use approximately 70% less electricity than older AC motor fans, run more quietly, have more speed settings (typically 6 vs 3), and often have a slimmer, more modern profile. For new installations or replacements, we almost always recommend DC. The energy saving pays back the small price premium within a year in typical Queensland usage.

AC fans are still a good choice for budget replacements or specific applications where DC motors aren't suitable, but for most homes DC is the better investment.

Outdoor Ceiling Fans

Outdoor-rated ceiling fans need to be specifically designed for the purpose — standard indoor fans will corrode and fail quickly in Queensland's humidity and salt air. We install IP-rated fans designed for alfresco, patio and deck areas, with properly weatherproofed wiring and connections. This is especially important in coastal locations from Noosa through to the Sunshine Coast.

Getting the Installation Right

A ceiling fan installed on an existing light fitting circuit is a common shortcut — but it means the fan and light share a single switch and a circuit not rated for motor load. We install fans on their own dedicated circuit with properly rated wiring and switching. It takes a little longer, costs a little more, and lasts significantly longer. Every installation is tested and comes with compliance documentation.

Ceiling Fan Coverage
